This is #Aniseed /#pimpinella #Anisum /# nkitinkiti as it’s popularly known in Ghana. #nkitinkiti has a sweet and aromatic flavour. As a child learning how to cook, I was told to add this to almost everything I cooked. From making #meko for stews, marinades for chicken, meat or fish and just about any sauce. It adds a sweet aromatic flavour to the dish. The health and nutritional benefits for #nkitinkiti are just amazing. They are an excellent source of minerals like iron, magnesium, calcium, Potassium, manganese zinc. It’s loaded with riboflavin, pyridoxine, niacin, thiamin. The seeds and oil can be used to treat nasal ailments, reduce flatulence, cure sleeplessness, improve digestion, alleviate cramps, reduce nausea etc. The list goes on. Another interesting fact is anise has aphrodisiac properties that can increase libido. Apparently drinking one glass of water infused with the crushed seeds each night can increase one’s sex drive 😉😉☺☺. I guess there’s no harm in trying it out.! 😁😁
